With Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh due by the year-end, Communist Party of India today said the "third front" recently formed in the state would give a non-BJP and non-Congress option to the people.

"The ruling BJP government has sold rivers, water reservoirs and land of tribals to private companies," Secretary, National Council CPI Atul Kumar Anjaan said.

"We are making efforts to give a non- BJP and non-Congress option to the people in the coming elections," he told reporters.

Anjaan was here to take part in the foot-march organised by CPI in Bastar region in support of tribal rights.

Nearly a dozen political parties came together in January to form a third front called "Chhattisgarh Sanyukta Morcha".
