Thomas Vinterberg to helm submarine movie 'Kursk'

Danish director Thomas Vinterberg has been roped in by Luc Besson's EuropaCorp to helm submarine film "Kursk".

The movie is movie based on the 2000 K-141 Kursk submarine

disaster, in which 118 Russians perished, reported Variety.

Vinterberg, 46, will direct from the script by "Saving Private Ryan" screenwriter Robert Rodat, based on Robert Moore's book "A Time to Die."

The Kursk sunk during a Russian naval exercise in the Barents Sea after explosions within the submarine.

After refusing the help from foreign governments initially, Russian government agreed to take aid from the British and Norwegian governments.
