Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayansasamy today promised action against those found guilty for the death of three patients, who were undergoing dialysis, at a government hospital there yesterday.
"We have acted swiftly and have ordered a probe. We will dismiss those who have been found guilty," he told reporters at the airport here.
Narayanasamy said the state government had acted swiftly as a probe had been ordered into the incident and that six staffers of the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute Hospital, where the incident occurred, have been placed under suspension.
He also pointed out at the government providing an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the victims.
Yesterday, three patients, two women and a man, had died at the hospital allegedly due to a sudden power failure when they were undergoing dialysis.
A three-member committee comprising two nephrologists from other hospitals and the Puducherry Electricity Department's executive engineer has been constituted to hold an enquiry and find out what went wrong.
