Thousands of people, including professionals, academics, journalists, poets, artists and students today took part in anti-war rallies held across Tripura.

Leading the rally, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar reminded the people of the horrors of the World War II which left millions of people dead.

"The main reason behind organising the rally is to create consciousness among people against any kind of war which kill people, pollute environment and damage public and private property," said CPI-M MP and one of the conveners of the rally Sankar Prasad Datta.

Similar rallies, where speakers reminded the people of the horrors of war, were also held in other parts of the state.
