An unidentified caller who claimed that there is a threat to the IGI Airport here this evening sent security personnel into a tizzy, prompting massive sanitizing exercise on its premises.

"Somebody called at a landline phone installed at the counter of a private airline at Terminal 3 of the airport and said that there is a threat to the airport. The call was received at around 4:15 PM. Precautionary steps were launched soon after the call was received," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) M I Haider.

Security agencies including CISF, Bomb Squad, Dog Squad and Quick Reaction Team of the Delhi Police launched massive search operations in the airport and everybody present in the airport was properly frisked, airport authorities said.

"We have not found anything during our search so far. The operations are still going on. As far as the caller is concerned, although he could not be immediately identified as there was no caller id on the phone, efforts are on to trace him," said Haider.

CISF officials said that there was no such prior intelligence input in this regard.
