The sessions court here today directed Deepak Sharma, accused of threatening advocate Chitra Salunkhe who is representing a young woman who has accused a senior police officer of rape, to visit Chembur police station for a week as police are investigating the case.

Salunkhe represents a 25-year-old model who has accused senior IPS officer Sunil Paraskar of rape.

Sharma filed an anticipatory bail application after Salunkhe filed the complaint against him saying he threatened her with dire consequences if she pursued the case against Paraskar.

Chief Public Prosecutor Kalpana Chavan and advocate Salunkhe today argued that the FIR against Sharma was under section 506(2) IPC (intimidation) which is a bailable offence and so there was no need for him to get pre-arrest bail.

Sharma claimed that he did not even know Paraskar, however he was constantly in touch with somebody on his mobile phone before entering and coming out of her office, Salunkhe said. This person was none other than Paraskar, which would be proved by the Call Data Records, she said.

Sharma claims that he had gone to her office for legal help in a family matter.

The court disposed of his application after asking him to attend police station daily for a week.

Salunkhe has also filed an application seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Paraskar, pleading that he violated conditions of bail by threatening her through Sharma. It would be heard on September 1.
