Three abducted persons rescued in Manipur

Three persons, including two women, who were abducted by a group of persons from Lilong Ngangou area in Thoubal district of Manipur, have been rescued, police said today.

The trio was abducted yesterday and rescued two hours later by volunteers of Anjuman Islahi Muahshra (AIM) and the locals, they said.

The three were travelling in a rice-laden jeep in the early hours when the incident took place. Their jeep was also hijacked by the abductors, the police said.

AIM chief coordinator told media that the abductees were found after two hours of search.

Three youths who were moving suspiciously at Lilong Ngangou were chased by a dozen volunteers who managed to overpower two of them. One of them however escaped, the AIM chief coordinator said.
 

The abducted persons were rescued based on the information provided by the apprehended duo Md Musha (28) and Md Tomba (35).

The miscreant who escaped has been identified as Md Saddam (20).

Meanwhile, the CID said it has taken the duo into its custody, while the absconder is still at large.
