Three arrested after exchange of fire

Three notorious criminals were held in two separate instances after the exchange of fire Sunday night, police said.

All three suffered bullet injuries in the leg.

Two constables also received bullet injuries, said SSP Sudhir Kumar Singh.

He said the policemen and the goons were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

In the first incident, the Loni police tried to corner four bike-borne snatchers while they were fleeing towards the Banthla canal.

They were signalled to stop but they fired at police.

Constable Anil Kumar sustained a bullet injury.

Police also fired in self-defence due to which two snatchers received bullet injuries in their leg.

They have been identified as Mandeep and Suarabh, both natives of Chandi Nagar village in Baghpat.

 

The duo had 15 criminal cases registered against them in Baghpat and Gautam Budh Nagar districts.

Police recovered a snatched purse, ATM card, mobile phone, motorcycle used in the commission of the crime and two countrymade pistols besides three used and four live cartridges from them.

Two of their accomplices fled from the spot.

In a similar case around 10.30 pm, Kavi Nagar police arrested a criminal, who allegedly tried to flee along with his accomplice after robbing a person at gunpoint.

Upon getting information, police swung into action and tried to intercept the bikers but they drove towards Raheespur village.

When police cornered the robbers, they fired at them.

Constable Praveen Kumar and a robber sustained bullet injuries.

The wounded robber had been identified Sohanveer and his accomplice managed to escape, the SSP said.

A countrymade pistol, two live and two used cartridges besides the looted amount was recovered from him, the SSP said.
