Three arrested for abduction, extortion

Three persons have been arrested for allegedly abducting a Haryana-based businessman and extorting money from him.

The accused have been identified as Hoshiyar Singh (45), Vikram (32), both residents of Burari, and Sunder, a resident of Azadpur.

They were arrested from Burari area of north Delhi on June 14 after police laid a trap.

According to police, on June 8, a person identified as Yogendra called Haryana-based businessman Deepak for a business meeting in Sector 18 in Rohini.

"When Deepak along with his friend reached Delhi, Yogender and his associate took them to a rented house in Sector 29 of Rohini where the two were confined by four persons at gunpoint.
 

"The accused wanted to extort Rs 10 lakh from Deepak's family, but their plan failed," said a senior police officer.

Thereafter, the accused took his ATM card and mobile phone and through ATM car, they withdrew Rs 1 lakh from his bank and later set free both the victims.

The officer added that police have recovered three mobile phones and a car, allegedly used in the crime, from their possession and the trio has been booked under appropriate sections of IPC at Samaypur Badli station.
