Anil, the 21-year-old alleged gang leader, Surender and Raju were arrested yesterday from Moti Nagar in West Delhi after police intercepted their vehicle during routine checking after receiving a tip-off.

Police recovered a car, eight stolen mobile phones, jewellery and knives from them after the arrest.

Police intercepted the car and arrested the trio, who during interrogation, disclosed that they have been in the field of crime for the past many years and had previously gone to jail.

During interrogation, Anil said he started committing petty thefts and met many criminals during his stay in the jail.

"Anil came out from jail after one year and formed a new gang comprising of Surender and Raju," V Renganathan, Additional Commissioner of Police, West District, said.

Sunil purchased a Tata Indica car for the purpose of committing crime.

"The gang used to wander in the car in Delhi and NCR and after selecting a soft target, two gang members used to get down from the car and park the car at a distance from the place of crime. After committing crime, they used to run towards the car and flee from the spot," he said.

With their arrest, three cases of burglary have been solved.
