Three arrested for cheating a dozen shop owners

"Sanjay Kumar Bansal, 57, a resident of Rohini, 27-year-old Om Prakash, a resident of Budh Vihar, and Suresh Kapoor, a resident of Paschim Puri, were arrested early this month following complaints of cheating by several shop owners," said B S Jaiswal, DCP Outer District.

Bansal had opened a trading firm about two months ago. They obtained telephone, mobile connections, bank account, PAN Card, TAN number on the basis of forged documents.

He had ordered LCD and LED televisions, washing machine, home theatre systems and other electronic items worth around Rs 30 lakh on credit and issued them cheque, the official said.

 

But when the shopowners produced the cheques in the bank, they bounced. When the victims tried to contact Bansal on his mobile, it was found switched off, and also his office was found closed, he said.

Police have recovered 98 bags of starch, 90 buckets of wall paints, 17 cartons of paint brush and 160 bags of wall putty and other article from his hideout.

During interrogation Bansal said Kapoor used to be the receiver of stolen property and was arrested. During investigation, the case properties were recovered from different godowns situated in Shahbad Dairy, Rama Vihar, Rani Khera etc.
