Three arrested for pushing minor girl into flesh trade: DCW

Three persons including a woman were arrested for allegedly forcing a 17-year-old girl to get married and pushing her into prostitution, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has claimed.

The Commission said that it had received a complaint in this regard from the girl who along with an NGO representative got the complaint registered withat Zafarabad Police Station.

The DCW after listening to her version sent a team with get an FIR registered. An FIR was registered and three people were arrested in this case. It later came to light that the rescued girl was one month pregnant, DCW said in a statement.
 

During the interrogation, the rescued girl told the team members of the Commission that she had arrived at New Delhi railway station from Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh, a few days ago looking for a job.

"She said her parents were no more and her little brother suffers from epileptic seizures. She wanted to find a job to facilitate treatment for her brother. She met the accused woman and a man at the New Delhi railway station.

"They assured her of a job and took her with them. She was kept at Delhi's Maujpur area where she was forced into prostitution. A few days later she was forcefully married to a 40-year-old middle-aged man from Chandni Chowk," the statement claimed.

The accused woman's daughter, who herself is a minor, was aware of these facts, she displayed extraordinary courage in saving the minor victim. The accused woman's daughter in order to save the girl reached the house in Chandni Chowk where she was married off.

The accused woman's daughter said that she was aware that her mother "pushes people into prostitution" and has been arrested before in this case, DCW said.
