Three arrested for stealing vehicles

Three persons, including a foreign national, have been arrested here for allegedly stealing vehicles, police said today.

The accused have been identified as Rohtas, 35, John, a Kenyan national, 45, and Lallu Khan, 48,.

On a tip-off police laid a trap and arrested the trio from from Surajmal Vihar in Anand Vihar yesterday evening while they were traveling a stolen car, said Premnath, DCP, South Delhi district.

During interrogation it was revealed that the gang used to hire taxis for destinations like Mathura and Agra and offer the driver cold drinks and eatables laced with drugs and sedatives and when the driver became unconscious, they would escape with the vehicle, he said.
 

The stolen vehicles were later disposed by accused Lallu Khan in Haryana by selling them at rates ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000, he said, informing, seven vehicles have been recovered from their possession.

Rohtas had been to jail in numerous cases of auto lifting and met John in Tihar jail. After coming out (of jail), they started stealing vehicles, he added.
