Three bookies arrested in Mumbai

Three bookies have been arrested from suburban Malad for allegedly accepting bets on India and England cricket match played yesterday, police said today.

Acting on a specific information, a team from Malad police station conducted a raid in a house at Bhaadran Nagar area yesterday when the trio was found accepting bets.

The three accused, identified as Vipul Soni (38), Krupesh Ruparelia (32) and Samir Makwaana (32), were arrested, police said adding that three laptops, 16 mobile phones and a television were recovered from the house.

They were accepting bets on India v/s England match played in Australia.

With the ICC World Cup around the corner, Mumbai Police has mounted its surveillance as it suspects that bookies would intensify their operations in the metropolis.
