Three teenagers were feared to have been washed away in a canal in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh today while another one was rescued by locals, police said.
The incident occurred at around 1.30 pm when a group of boys went for swimming in Telugu Ganga canal passing through Anjuru village of KVB Puram mandal of Chittoor, DSP Puttur (Sub-Division) N Krishna Kishore Reddy told PTI over phone.
While Vishnu, aged 22, was rescued by locals, his other relatives, including his brother Shivashakti (17), Vijay (14) and Kumar (19) were feared washed away and are yet to be traced, the DSP said.
"Police and local villagers are searching for them. So far no one among those washed away are found," the police officer said adding that the boys had come down to Suramala village to attend their relative's marriage and some of them work in Bangalore in a grocery shop.
