Three burglars held

Three burglars, including two women, wanted in connection with a number of cases registered against them, were arrested from two different locations today and gold worth Rs 12 lakh seized from them, police said.

In the first case, Crime Wing sleuths arrested Karri Santhosh alias Satish of Maredupudi village under Anakapalle mandal and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh from him, they said, adding the accused was caught during routine vehicular check-up by Ankapally cops.

Satish has been wanted in connection with a string of burglaries.

Police said that the accused was arrested during the routine vehicular check up at Sunkarametta area in Anakapally.
 

In another case, Kancharapalem police in the city arrested M Bhavani and M Annavaram--both sisters-- from Kothavalasa area in Vizianagaram district and recovered around 70 grams of gold ornaments from them.

Police said the sisters had boarded a share auto in the city on January 4 and stolen a bag, consisting of gold ornaments from a woman passenger near NAD Kotharoad area.

Based on the complaint from the woman, crime wing police visited Raja Colony area of Kothavalasa and nabbed the sisters, who were involved in few such cases in the city.
