A 27-year-old divorcee woman has been booked after she allegedly tried to kill her three sons, a three-year-old among them, by poisoning them in suburban Andheri, an official said today.

However, the children, who stay with their father, are safe and out of danger after their hospitalisation, he said.

The incident occurred last night when the woman, identified as Shahin, went to the house of her husband Farooq Shaikh (35) in suburban Andheri and took her three sons outside on the pretext of offering them sugarcane juice.

After returning home, the children - two of them below 12 - complained of giddiness and were admitted to hospital by their father, where doctors gave them a stomach wash apparently to remove traces of any poisonous substance.

In his complaint, Shaikh alleged that Shahin offered spiked juice to the children, the official said.

Police have registered a case under section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence) of IPC against Shahin, but has not arrested her yet.
