Three cops arrested for robbing jeweller of Rs 7.94 lakh

Four persons, including three policemen, were today arrested for allegedly robbing 7.94 lakh rupees cash from a jeweller, police said here today.

The accused, identified as the jeweller Virendra Kumar Verma, a sub-inspector, a city patrol unit constable and a constable at Kathgodam police station were arrested for robbing the Bareilly based jeweller Anup Agarwal on Thursday, DIG Kumaon Range Pushkar Singh Sailal said.

Verma, a jeweller, had informed the three policemen that Agarwal was carrying cash worth Rs 7.94 lakh after selling jewellery at Almora, the DIG said, adding that they robbed Agarwal and divided the money equally among themselves.
 

The accused policemen have been suspended after being arrested and an FIR has been registered against all the four people, he added.
