"Acting on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Mir, District SP has suspended three police officials besides attaching Kulgam Police Station SHO for alleged excesses during a raid at Laro village Saturday," the spokesman said.
A Special Police Officer (SPO) had been disengaged in this connection, he said.
Residents of the village had staged protests over the past two days demanding stern action against the concerned officials.
The residents had alleged the police had not followed the procedure while arresting four male and two female members of a family.
The Deputy Commissioner this morning visited the village and the house where the incident took place to take stock of the situation.
The police had raided the house to affect the arrest of family members in connection with an FIR lodged against them, the spokesman said.
The Deputy Commissioner had ordered a probe by Additional District Development Commissioner M Y Zargar who was directed to submit a report within a fortnight.
Satisfied by the action of the administration, the people called off their stir.
