The three, were hiding in the sugarcane fields of Hayat Nagar Jerio village after looting valuables when locals spotted them, Superintendent of police, Tehsildar Singh said.
The villagers surrounded them and in retaliation the criminals opened fire injuring a villager, the SP said, adding, that three of them were killed while three others managed to escape.
The SP said that two country made weapons and looted valuables have been recovered from the spot.
