About 80 companies from across the globe, including home-grown Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland, will participate in a three-day auto event being organised here.

The expo would bridge the gap between manufacturers, buyers, sellers and other equipment manufacturers, service providers and allied sectors, Ram Soundalkar, Director of Media Day Marketing, which is one of the organisers the event, told reporters here today.

The truck industry has a good number of automobile giants like Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Mahindra & Mahindra, he said, adding that about 11 large tyre manufacturing companies in India account for over 90 per cent of the needs.

So far 80 companies from India and abroad have confirmed participation in the expo, he said.

The organisors have approached Unon Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate the expo to begin from August 6, he said.
