Three-day Conference on Bhaskaracharya to be held from Sep 19

The three-day International Conference on Bhaskaracharya will be held from September 19 onwards at the Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM) Educational Complex here.

VPM chairman Dr Vijay V Bedekar told reporters today that the conference 'Bhaskara 900' is being organised to commemorate the 900th birth anniversary of the greatest mathematician of medieval India Bhaskaracharya.

"India has a long tradition of celebrated mathematicians who have contributed towards the growth of math and astronomy. One of them was Bhaskaracharya who contributed substantially to the growth of these subjects," he said.

Former chairman, Atomic Energy Commission Dr Anil Kakodkar will be the chief guest.
 

The conference envisages to highlight various aspects of work of Bhaskaracharya. As many as 46 presentations will be presented during the conference and researchers from Japan, New Zealand, Germany, France, Iran and USA will present their research papers.
