Three-day laparoscopic conference begins

The 3-day 8th International Laparoscopic Conference and Workshop began here today.

Surgeries related to appendix, gall bladder and hernia were performed by eminent laparoscopic surgeons for the benefit of more than 300 participants by live telecast from GEM Hospital, the organisers to the venue of Laparosurg 2015.

Dr C Palanivelu, chairman, GEM hospital, delivered a lecture, dwelling upon his 25 years journey in Laparoscopic surgery titled "My tryst with destiny.

Dr Barry Salky, eminent surgeon from USA, delivered a lecture on complications in laparoscopic surgery "can we do better".

Palanivelu will perform 3D total laparoscpic hysterectomy tomorrow followed by live laparoscopic surgery mainly related to esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and bile duct.
 

On May 16, there will be live laparoscopic surgery related to bariatric and colorectal, which would be live telecast, followed urology and paediatric surgery in the evening, Palanivelu said.
