Three die as van hits tree

Three persons were today killed and five others injured when their van collided with a tree, police said.

The victims were on their way to Selani Baba to offer prayers when their vehicle hit a tree in Mundi village of the district, said Mundi police station in-charge, Ajit Patel.

The deceased, all aged between 40 and 45 years, were identified as Mahesh Mankar, Tarachand Lodhi and Bhuru Kaushal, Patel said, adding that a five-year-old boy had a miraculous escape in the incident.

The injured have been admitted to Khandwa district hospital and a probe is on into the case, police said.
