A 11-year-old boy was electrocuted to death after he came in contact with an electric pole in Indira colony area here, police said today.
Vishal Meghwal was yesterday electrocuted to death while he was playing along the road and he came in contact with a an electric pole which had electricity running through it due to open wiring, police said.
The boy was rushed to hospital but the doctor declared him brought dead, they said, adding the body was handed over to the family members after postmortem.
Locals alleged recklessness on part of Jaipur Vidut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) as it was responsible for the pole's maintenance. Ward member Tikam Jain claimed JVVNL officials were informed a week ago about the live wires at the poles in the area but they did not carry out the necessary repair and maintenance.
SHO of Sadar police station Anis Ahamed said no case has been lodged against JVVNL in the matter.
However, investigation into the matter is still on, he said, adding, the matter has been lodged under section 174 of CrPC.
In a separate incident, a 12-year-old girl allegedly drowned yesterday afternoon while taking a bath in Kurel river here, police said.
Maya, a resident of Jhuwansa village, was accompanied by around six other children, when she drowned in the deep waters, police said, adding, the body was fished out in the evening with the help of rescue teams.
In another incident, a 70-year-old woman, Rampiyaribai, allegedly committed suicide by by pouring kerosene over herself in Keshoraipatan town here, police said.
The woman was taken to local government hospital where the doctors declared her dead, police said.
Police handed over the body to family members after postmortem and lodged a case in connection with the matter under 174 of CrPC.
The deceased woman was reported to be suffering from depression, police said.
