Three discharged from AIIMS, Raipur after COVID-19 recovery

Three persons were discharged on

Tuesday from the the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here in Chhattisgarh after their recovery from coronavirus infection, Health officials said.

With this, the total number of people discharged after recovery has reached to 13 in the state while that of active cases to 20, they said.

"The three patients--all men-- hailing from Katghora town of the state's Korba district were discharged after their two consecutive tests came out negative for coronavirus," a public relations official at the AIIMS told PTI.

Now, 20 patients are undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, he said, adding that three of them were admitted after being tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.

 

Katghora, located around 200 kms from Raipur, has emerged as the coronavirus hotspot in Chhattisgarh with 24 confirmed cases reported so far.

On April 4, a 16-year-old boy from a 16-member Tablighi Jamaat group staying in a mosque in Purani Basti area of Katghora had tested positive for coronavirus, after which 23 others in the area who had come in contact with Tablighis also tested positive in the last one week.

"Out of the 4821 samples sent for screening until now in the state, 33 tested positive while 4319 came out negative. Reports of 469 are awaited," he said.

As many as 75837 people, most of them with travel history to abroad or other affected states, have been placed under home quarantine as a precautionary measure, officials added.
