Three inebriated men allegedly assaulted a youth in central Delhi's IP Estate area after he refused to answer their queries on search of 'prostitutes' in the area.

The victim, Mohd Shahbuddin who works as a cook at a restaurant in Connaught Place, was on his way back home on March 15 night when three men on a motorcycle stopped him near Ranjit Singh flyover, police said.

The trio asked Shahbuddin as to where they could find 'prostitutes' in the area to which the latter said he wasn't aware.

"They allegedly started thrashing him and even stabbed him in his thigh with a knife. An auto stopped while they were attacking the youth and they tried to flee from there.

"However, Shahbuddin managed to catch hold of one of them, identified as Rahul and informed police," said a senior police officer.

Rahul has told police that he was accompanied by two of his friends Aamir and Ankit and police is on the lookout for them.
