Three elephants knocked down by train in Assam

Three elephants were knocked down by a train and killed on the spot is Assam's Hojai district today.

Forest department officials said the tuskers were knocked down near Jugijan by up Kamrup Express and one of them was pregnant.

Heavy fog at 1 AM when the incident occured may have been the cause of the accident, they suspected.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Safiqur Rahman with veterinary doctors reached the site and after post mortem examination buried the carcasses near the railway track, they added.
