Three family members among four die in separate fire incidents

Three members of a family were among four persons who died in separate incidents of fire in Jammu and Kashmir.

A fire broke out in the house of Sudesh Kumar around 3 AM today in village Koota of Kathua district when the family was fast asleep, a police officer said.

In the blaze, three members of the family died and two others got burn injuries.

The police and locals rushed to the spot along with fire tenders and doused the blaze, he said.

Those who have died in the fire have been identified as Sudesh Kumar, his wife Archana and their 18-month-old daughter Shiddi.
 

Sudesh's father and his son escaped narrowly with burn injuries as they were sleeping in another room of the house.

In another incident, 38-year-old Champa Devi died when a fire broke out in her house in Riyal area of Samba district this morning.

A fire also broke out last night in a temporary living structure due to a short circuit and soon spread to other hutments near Golden Gate area on Jammu-Pathankote in Kathua district.

Twelve hutments were gutted in the blaze, he said.
