Three feared drowned in Jhelum in J&K

Three persons were feared drowned after they went fishing in river Jhelum in Baramulla district in north Kashmir, police said here today.

Habibullah Mir (50), his son Nasreen Mir (16) and another person Aftab Ahmad Khatana (30) had gone for fishing in the river in Salamabad area of Uri near Line of Control (LoC) yesterday, but did not return back, a police spokesman said.

The three were feared dead, the spokesman said, adding efforts are on to retrieve their bodies.

The police has requested the Army to contact their Pakistani counterparts on hotline as the fast flow of the river usually carries the bodies across the LoC, he said.
