Two fishing boats capsized and three fishermen drowned in a creek area near Koteshwar in Kutch district of Gujarat this afternoon, officials of the National Fisherworkers' Forum (NFF) said.

NFF secretary Manish Lodhari said the two boats had 14 fishermen onboard.

"These boats were from Mangrol and headed into the sea from Okha near Dwarka for fishing in the creek area near Koteshwar. It is believed they capsized after hitting rocks in the shallow waters," said Lodhari.

"Three fishermen died while 11 others were rescued by the crew of other fishing boats in the vicinity," he said, adding that bodies of the deceased men had been recovered.
