A local court has sentenced three persons to life imprisonment while letting off another in a three-year-old murder case.

Additional district and sessions judge Rakesh Singh held the trio- Surendra Lonia, Prakash and Shiv Shankar guilty in the case and pronounced the verdict on them yesterday.

However, another accused in the case Sapna was acquitted from conspiracy charges on the "benefit of doubt", prosecution sources said.

The victim, Rakesh Kumar Yadav, who was in a relationship with Sapna, had employed her in his clinic at the Mahmoodabad Crossing here, but soon after they parted ways, prosecution sources said.

The convicts, who was known to the woman, hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Yadav and accordingly killed him on November 16, 2010 in Safdarganj area of the district. His body was recovered near Hamirnagar railway crossing.

Later, after the trio were nabbed, they confessed to their crimes.
