A local court has sentenced three youths to life imprisonment for murdering a youth after he opposed the eve-teasing of his sister by them.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Harish Tripathi pronounced the order yesterday and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of the accused identified as Pankaj, Anil and Sunil Kumar after holding them guilty under Section 302 (murder) of IPC.
According to the prosecution, 26-year-old Monit was shot dead when he opposed the eve-teasing of his sister by the accused men at Vedkheri village in Shamli district on February 4, 2006. He was murdered and his body was thrown in the forest area.
