Three held, fake currency seized

Three persons were arrested and fake currency notes with the face value of Rs 1.98 lakh recovered from them in the district headquarters town of Kishanganj in Bihar last night.

On a tip off, a joint team of District police and Sashashtra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested the trio from bus stand area along with the counterfeit, SSB's 12th battalion Deputy Commandant Kumar Sundaram said today.

The three arrested were - Ashish Biswas, Mukhtar Alam and Ansar Ali - and they were believed to be part of a racket of smugglers, Sundaram said.

All the three are residents of North Dinajpur district of neighbouring West Bengal, Sundaram said.
 

Out of Rs 1.98 lakh fake currency notes that the police recovered from them, 99 currency notes are of 1000 denomination while 198 currency notes are of 500 denomination, the Deputy Commandant said.
