Three held for attempt to murder

The Thane District police have arrested three persons from Ganeshpuri on charges of attempting to murder a villager, who objected to their nuisance during a function.

In the intervening night of June 4 and 5, a 'Haldi' function, was organised at the house of Bushan Patil at Palakhane of Bhiwandi, said API Kundan Jadhav of Ganeshpuri police station today.

The trio was apprehended yesterday. They intervened when the guests were rejoicing after which an altercation broke out between the injured Anant Patil, them and other accused, Jadhav added.

After the function, when Anant was returning home at about 2.20 AM, around 15 persons attacked him with swords, the officer said.
 

Patil was rushed to the Sion hospital in neighbouring Mumbai, where he is being presently treated. A case under relevant sections of IPC and the Arms Act was registered and a probe was on, said Jadhav.
