Three persons were arrested for allegedly beating up a middle aged man at Dharmanagar in Burdwan district today.
The arrests were made on a complaint of the man's wife who alleged that her husband was beaten up by local panchayat members on a false charge of molesting a woman last night, SDPO Y Raghubanshi said.
The condition of the man, now treated at the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, is critical, he said.
