Three held for duping man of Rs 2 lakh

Three members of a gang were arrested for allegedly duping a man of Rs 2 lakh in pretext of offering him US dollars at cheap rates, police said today.

Lahul, Fatima and Yamin were arrested from Seemapuri area of north east Delhi, said Ajit Kumar Singla, DCP (north east).

On June 17, an FIR was registered at Seemapuri police station by Mirza Beg that one Salim came to him on June 13 and offered US dollars at very cheap rates. He took Mirza to a lady who showed him US dollars kept in a bag.

Mirza gave her Rs 2 lakh and took the bag which he later found was "packed with ordinary paper".
 

Police recovered ten notes of 20 US dollars and three notes of one US dollar from the arrested accused. They admitted having cheated other people also through same modus operandi, said DCP Singla.

Further investigation is on to arrest other members of the gang, he added.
