Three held for posing as Naxals in Andhra Pradesh

Three persons were arrested for allegedly posing as Naxals and demanding money from a real-estate owner, police said today.

The accused R Gopi, Umamaheswara Rao and P Veera Venkata Satyanarayana were apprehended yesterday, Rajamahendravaram Urban district Superintendent of Police B Rajakumari said.

The trio had threated one real estate owner and demanded Rs three crore from him. The real-estate owner, who received the threat agreed to pay Rs one crore, the officer said.

However, the real-estate owner kept Rs one lakh in a bag where the trio had asked him to keep the money. When the trio came to collect the money, we apprehended them, Rajakumari said, adding a probe was on.
