Services of both the teachers have been terminated by the District Magistrate and the police is keeping a tab on the situation, DIG (Kishtwar-Doda-Ramban range) Gareeb Dass said.

"Somebody posted some blasphemous messages on Facebook and it was liked by some people, who also posted some messages on it in Kishtwar district, triggering protests and high tension last night," Dass said.

The website has been blocked in the district, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saleem said that action will be taken against those found guilty and Public Safety Act will be slapped on them.

Meanwhile, a bandh was observed in the district and neighbouring areas in protest against the matter.

Shops and business establishments remained closed and a partial bandh was also observed in the neighbouring Doda district, police said, adding the overall situation remained peaceful except stray incidents of stone pelting at some places.

"There is no untoward incident reported from anywhere in the district. The situation is tense but under control," Dass said.
