Three held for smuggling gold at Mumbai airport

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs department today arrested three persons for smuggling gold worth over Rs 3 crore.

Sources in the AIU said that officials intercepted three passengers upon arrival from Dubai.

They are Salma Karolia (44), who holds South African passport, and Saleh Abubaker Ahmed Saed (40) and Arif Mhd Yusuf Sedu (34), both of whom hold Indian passport.

12 kg of gold was recovered from them.

"They were carrying gold in rectangular aluminium cases, hooked to the underside of baggage trolley," said an officer.
