Three held for theft in temples, silver ornaments recovered

"Two persons along with a buyer have been apprehended in connection with burglary at Bhairav Baba, Girijaban Hanuman and Mahamya temples of the city along with some others located in Madhya Pradesh area close to the inter-state border," Superintendent of Police Ratanlal Dangi said.

"About 11 kgs of silver ornaments were recovered from the possession of the buyer," Dangi added.

During interrogation, two main accused Kuman Singh Gond, a resident of Ghatapara village, and Mukut Ram Chaudhary, a native of Lyber Tola village, allegedly confessed that they had sold the ornaments to Mayank Soni of Gaurela area and Pradip Soni.

 

Efforts are being made to nab Pradip while Mayank was arrested, he said, adding that further investigation was on.

According to the SP, the accused struck at the Bhairav Baba temple on December 11 this year and decamped with silver ornaments weighing about 8 kg and about Rs 25,000 cash. They also stole ornaments and cash from Girijaban Hanuman temple on October 5.
