Three held for theft of laptops over Rs 1 cr

Three persons were arrested here today for allegedly setting ablaze a godown of computer distributor company and stealing laptops and monitors worth over Rs 1 crore from there, police said.

The theft took place between August 15 and 17, when some miscreants stole laptops and monitors from the godown of Neoteric Informatic Ltd at Dapoda, near here and also allegedly set it on fire, in a bid to make it appear that the goods were destroyed in fire, Narpoli police station police inspector Prakash Patil said.

According to police, the stolen laptops of Lenovo company and Benq monitors is valued at Rs 1,07,23,336 (Rs 1.07 crore).
 

The arrested were identified as as Bupendra Shukla, Santosh Bhimrao Bhosale and Mohmad Kurshid Rehman Alam, all lived in the same Dapoda locality.

They have been charged under IPC sections 454 (house-trespass), 457 (house-breaking by night in order to commit offence), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house) and other relevant sections, police said.

The loss in the fire was estimated around Rs 20 lakhs, police said.
