Three persons, including two women, were arrested here today for allegedly trying to blackmail a businessman and extort Rs 30 lakh from him, police said.
"The accused Kisan Siddhpura, Riddhi Oza and Saroj Dodiya managed to get objectionable photographs of businessman Bharat Patel with accused Riddhi Oza. The three then started blackmailing him saying they would circulate the photographs on social media and file a case of rape against Patel if he did not pay Rs 30 lakh," Pradyumna Nagar police station inspector B M Katariya said.
The complainant, after settling to pay Rs 20 lakh, approached police which then arrested the three persons, he said.
According to officials, Oza worked in Patel's firm and on March 22 accompanied him to a guesthouse where Siddhpura clicked objectionable photographs of the two with the intention to blackmail.
The three were booked under various sections of the IPC and further investigations were underway, police said.
