Three persons were arrested and seven Panchaloha (five metal) idols costing over Rs 50 lakh were seized by the police here last evening.
Ancient idols from the Mahaveera Jaina Basadi at Mogaveera patina in Kundapur near here were stolen a year ago during the Basadi annual festival due to which the administration could not notice the loss immediately.
A police team questioned the accused who were seen moving around Kundapur bus stand in suspicious circumstances. During interrogation, they revealed the details of the theft and were taken into custody.
The arrested have been produced before the court.
