Three held with 586 live tortoises

Police on patrol duty stopped a SUV for checking near the Mandi Samiti last night and found ten sacks full of tortoises.

They were being taken to Uttarakhand from Etah, they said.

In India, tortoise are protected under the Wildlife Act 1972.
