Three highway 'robbers' arrested in Haryana

Three youths have been arrested here on the charges of allegedly trying to rob commuters on isolated spots, police said today.

ASI Amar Singh, posted at Police Station Sarai Khwaja, Faridabad was on a patrol duty yesterday when he received information that three youths were planning to rob commuters on Palla Bridge on Agra Canal, police said.

The men, who were caught trying to rob the passengers, were overpowered by the police team. Police also recovered a country made pistol, an iron rod and a wooden log form their possession, they said.

The accused were identified as Rahul, Sonu and Salesh, all residents of Faridabad, they said.
 

A case has been registered with Police Station Sarai Khwaja under section 498 and 401 of IPC and section 25, 54 and 59 of Arms Act, said the investigating officer ASI Jai Karan said, adding further investigation is underway.
