Three IITians win POSOCO Power System Award

Three IIT-Kharagpur students have won an award from POSOCO, a subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation.

Ishita Biswas from the electrical engineering department was recently awarded the POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA) 2016 under the Master category for her research work on "System Configuration and Control of DC Microgrid with Variable Generation and Storage", an IIT official said.

Ganeswara Rao Jada has been awarded under the Doctoral category for his research work on "Improved Distance Relay Performance during Power Swing Using Innovative Algorithms".

Arghya Mitra was awarded under the Doctoral category for his research work on "Impacts of Integration of Doubly Fed Induction Generator Based Wind Farms on the Transient Stability of Power Systems", the official said.
 

The award ceremony was organized by Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO) in association with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi recently.

This is the third recognition for the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT-Kharagpur in recent times. Last week Amit Patra from the department was cited among the top researchers in the countries in a report published by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Earlier this year, the electrical engineering department of the premier institute also featured among the top 100 list of QS Subject Ranking.

It is also among the best performing departments in the institute with regards to placement and research.
