Without giving reason for the changes, the company said that three part-time and non-official directors M B N Rao, J P Batra and J P Singh have ceased to be the directors with effect from July 7, 2012.

The three officials held the post of independent directors in the company's board.

Facing allegations of corruption after former Army Chief General V K Singh accused it of hiring middlemen to push a tranche of "sub-standard" trucks, BEML recently changed its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and appointed P Dwarakanath with the additional charge of the top post.

Dwarkanath replaced V R S Natarajan who was suspended by the government following CBI recommendations against him in Tatra truck purchase deal.

Natarajan headed the PSU for 12 years and his tenure was supposed to end in September this year. He is being questioned by CBI in the case regarding alleged irregularities in procurement and supply of Tatra all terrain vehicles to army.

On June 6, the defence ministry had sought an explanation from Natarajan for serving a legal notice on former army chief Gen V K Singh demanding an apology for his alleged defamatory statements against the defence PSU on the Tatra truck issue.
