Three Indian riders win medals on day two

Three Indian women riders won medals on day two of the Track Asia Cup at the IG Stadium Complex Velodrome here today.

In the women junior, Aashu Sharma bagged bronze medal in the Individual Pursuit 2 km Race with 2:47:652 effort while men junior team missed out on a medal as Sahil Kumar finished fourth in the Individual Pursuit 3 Km Race.

In the women elite category, T Devi Bidiyaluxmi added a second silver to SAI National Cycling Academy in the Individual Pursuit 3 km Race while only rider from Western India, Rutuja Satpute, bagged bronze in the same category.
 

India stands at number four in the medals tally with six medals including a gold, three silver and couple of bronze. Korea is on the top with five medals including three gold and a silver, followed by Uzbekistan (two gold, three silver) and Thailand is at number three (two gold, a silver, three bronze).

Only four finals were held today while others were qualifying rounds.

In women sprint elite category Deborah gave a tough fight to opponents and now will fight with Sunoyoung of Korea for gold tomorrow. Kezia Vargheeshe also secured her place to play for bronze against Soojin Kim of Korea.

In men junior sprint, after qualifying round, India's Emerson and Arkaprava Baul will play for bronze. They will compete against each other for the bronze.

After the conclusion of day two, India's chief coach R K Sharma said, "I am satisfied with the performance of Team India and our riders are improving their timings regularly.
