Three persons travelling in a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a speeding four- wheeler on the Mumbai-Nashik highway in Sahapur here today, police said.
The mishap occurred in the wee hours at Cherpoli village in Sahapur taluka when the trio were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on the highway, a personnel at Thane district rural control said.
The deceased identified as Vishnu Pardhi (25), Shravan Manje (40) and Gurunath Cheema Manje (47), had died on the spot and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem to Sahapur government hospital.
An offence has been registered against unidentified person under IPC section 304-A (causing death by negligence) and relevant sections of Motor Vehicle Act, police said.
